Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I have joint custody of my son where his father and I each get him every other week. I am not allowed to move more than 50 miles from him without having the agreement redone. I want to move to another state but I'm worried I could lose my son. Could the fact that his father is married and I'm moving with my boyfriend hurt me in my fight? I do have a daughter that is also the same man's child and he has nothing to do with her but paying the child support. Could that help me get full custody of my son?

All you need to do is petition the courts to modify your current order to allow you to move further. You may wish to hire an attorney to help you with this as your situation will need the legal lingo in the pleadings to benefit you.

The court looks to the best interest of the child. One factor is keeping siblings together. Simply because you are moving does not necessarily mean that you will lose custody. Many family law attorneys offer free consultations. You should interview several attorneys and discuss the facts of your case. Thereafter, you should select the attorney who fits your needs and budget.
