Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I would like to get legal custody of my nephew. He has been in the care of his grandparents since he was an infant but now they are no longer able to care for him. They both have health issues, barely any income, and the grandmother has recently packed up and moved out. She is his legal guardian but as of lately has been jumping in and out of his life and has told no one where she lives. I have always helped the grandparents care for him from the time he has lived with them. Now I would like to be the one to take full legal custody of him and provide a stable, healthy home. He has been living with me for the past few months now but I have no legal rights to him.

Please advise as to what steps I need to take to get legal custody of him. We live in the state of Georgia.

The first step is obviously to see a lawyer in the area who handles these issues. He/She will then know what to do (if it is possible).

You likely need the consent of the parents (and garndparents). And you need a lawyer.
