Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I live in Georgia. I am preparing my own uncontested divorce petition. What court do I file them in and how much will it cost to file them?

First of all, it is ALWAYS a bad idea to file pro se. DON'T. Even with good research, things tend to go wrong, and why save a few hundred dollars only to have expensive or stressful problems? If money is very tight, pay a lawyer to coach you and help prepare your papers. That will be very inexpensive. That's a service I do for those who want to go the pro se route and it is far safer than making your own papers.

The fact that have not spent 30 seconds online to determine the filing fee (and don't know what court to file in) says you are far less prepared than most pro se litigants.

Spend a few dollars. Do it right.

If you cannot afford an attorney and cannot qualify or otherwise obtain a pro bono attorney, read, read, read.

The Bar of Georgia offers basic information about the process, including where to file.

However, please remember, it is better to retain an attorney to explain the process, keep you grounded, and navigate the entire process for you.
