Can the state hold me responsable for my exwife's doing?

My exwife got walefare on my son after we divorced. I had one son she had the other. There was no support orderde in the divorce. The state filed a case aginst me. It was dismissed. After 11 years they have re filed the case. What is my best course or action here?

you should hire an attorney asap in order to protect your rights. you may be able to obtain some credits on the arrearage, and a correct accounting of the amount due is critical
