Legal Question in Medical Leave in Georgia

maternity leave laws/compensation in Georgia

I am pregnant and due in 3 months. The company I have

been working for for the past year and a half is a new

(3 yr old) company and does not have a maternity leave

policy in place. I understand that law requires my job

to be held until I return, but I was curious to know

if there is any compensation required by law. Also,

how much time off am I alotted for child birth in

Georgia? Do I have any rights financially when it

comes to "leave without pay" in this si

Re: maternity leave laws/compensation in Georgia

If your company has over 50 employees within 75 miles of where you work, they are covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, which allows up to 12 weeks unpaid leave for the birth of a child. As of yet, unless your company offers any type of compensation during leave or unless you would be covered by some sort of short term disability plan, the leave is without pay.
