Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

I had a business partner, we planned and promoted a concert. The net proceeds were to benefit a charity. I approached the charity to gain permission to use their name and also let them know what our plans were. At the time, the "head" charity person OFFERED to assist any way possible, even offering a portion of the down payment due to the fact the event would possibly raise alot of cash. My partner has another charity she is involved in, and wanted to split any proceeds 50/50 between the two. When this information was discovered by the 1st Charity, the lady became angry, refusing to assist us in advertising, promotion, etc. She did ask for tickets to sell, however, she sold none, would not return them and refused to show for the event. She began calling us a month after the event demanding money, even coming to my place of employment to demand I sign a piece of paper from her attorney's for "auditing purposes". Long story short, I have been served with papers from our Magistrate court. My partner was not included in this process. How do I go about handling this?

Being served with a lawsuit means you get a lawyer well in advance of the answer date. It is not something for an internet message board.

You need to hire a lawyer immediately, as you only have 30 days from service to answer.

None of us have read the written p[artnership agreement you and your partner have (and hopefullly you had a lawyer draft that) and that is going to affect your rights and what happens.

None of us have also read your written contract with the charity (and please don't tell us you did it orally).
