Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

My husband and I were requested to vacate our rented townhome, two months before lease expired. The letter was written and sent via daily postal service, stating we had thirty days to move out and the leasing company would take possession on the 12th of September 2010. Wemoved out September 1st, turned the keys over to the resident manager on September 2nd. She never mentioned we would have to pay remaining days up to September 12th. She did say we would receive our deposit within a few weeks. We have sent letters to the real estate company and have not received any response. We have tried to communicate with the resident manager, still no response. Now we understand if we do not pay the incorrectly calculated amount of 720. 35 by today we will be reported to the credit bureaus and turned over to a collection agency. Any advice?

No one can tell you what rights were or were no violated because no one here has a copy of the most important item - the lease - and you did not think it important enough to tell us what it says. Many lawyers will be glad to take an hourly fee to read it to you, and perhaps charge you much more than the amount at issue, or you can read it yourself, see what it says about all relevant matters, and resolve it.
