Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Georgia

Contractors breach of contract

I signed a contract with a man claiming to be a roofing/ home improvement contractor. After he failed to show up on the day agreed I voided the contract and demanded my advance of $2000 back.I since have researched and can fine no address or phone number for him or his business. What legal recourse do I have to get my money back from him?

Re: Contractors breach of contract

You have no recourse until you find him. You could sue as a John Doe, but the caswe would expire if you can't come up with any person. Your best bet is to find him the way you found him the first time; chances are, when your check was cashed, he had to give a bank account or some sort of identification. A PI can trace him that way.
