Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Georgia

If my supervisor discusses my compensation and specifically mentions that I owe him lots of money due to poor performance in a group email (and this is non factual, nor contractually correct) is that illegal or grounds for filing a suit and for what? It was quite a shock.

Sharing personal information with others is not grounds for a lawsuit unless the disclosure breaches a contract or has other legal protection (such as medical information).

You misposted this question in the part of LawGuru that discusses legal malpractice and lawyer discipline,so tort attorneys who do tort cases probably never see your question. Having said that, it is unlikely you have a basis to sue absent more than what you posted (both provable damages and more than what you said being in the email). If there is more, talk to a tort attorney.
