Since you haven't indicated the type of case, whether you have a fee contract, the stage of the case, or why you're unhappy, no one can begin to answer your question. (You might try posting it again with that information). In many cases, changing attorneys may leave you liable to pay both lawyers.

Georgia law allows you to terminate your relationship with your attorney at any time. However, your attorney may have a "lien" on your case for any work already done. Often times, in a personal injury matter, this lien would be equal to the attorney's percent (usually 331/3 - 40%)of any offer on the table at the time you terminate the attorney, plus any expenses advanced by the attorney.

Also, releasing an attorney may depend on whether litigation has been initiated. It is generally more difficult to retain a second lawyer once litigation has been initiated.
