Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

Personal infury

I was injured by a crate the flew off a passing truck. The firm's headquarters is located in Georgia but the accident happened in Florida where the firm does business. I was wondering what State I have to file my suit for damages in?

Normally your lawsuit, if it comes to that, will need to be filed in the state in which the accident occurred.

Re: Personal infury

This is not an easy question to answer. It involves jurisdictional, venue and choice of law questions. But generally speaking, a defendant can be sued in its state of residence. i.e. Georgia. However, Florida may have (I am not licensed in Florida) a "non-resident motorist statute" similar to Georgia, which would allow for the suit to be brought in the state where the accident occurred, even though the defendant resides out of state.

My advice is to consult with an attorney to discuss the matter more in detail.

It would likely be possible (and I'd need more details) to sue here in Georgia. Feel free to contact me further to discuss the matter.
