Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

valid settlement

i have an attorney representing me in an uninsured motorist claim. he called and relayed an offer to me that i thought was only for the

medical payments portion (it had been disputed) - but when i went to his office, i find that this is for everything! he says i have no options and the entire case is settled. i told him i would be getting a new attorney and he said "the case is settled" - can i call the insurance company myself? is the settlement valid? i didn't sign the release.

Re: valid settlement

Your attorney has apparent authority to bind you. he is acting as your agent and the insurance company will probably say they relied on his apparent agency for you. i suggest you speak to another attorney right away to see if you may be helped.
