Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Property Law

There is 30 feet of property between our house and our neighbors house that is not on either of our deeds...They hired a lawyer and tried to get me to sign something saying I wouldn't claim this property. I refused after researching land deeds and discovering their deed was cut and dry...Their lot was the same with all the previous owners...Our lot however used to be divided into three lots then put back to one lot...This along with people telling me our appraiser was not very good made me think it was more possible this land belondgs to us...I cannot afford to have it reappraised right now.

The neighbors mow this area almost weekly...Are they trying to get this property using the adverse possesion law? We live in Georgia.. And is there anything I can do about it until I am able to hire an attorney....

Since your house is your most valuable asset, and since you could, with time, lose rights to property, you need to see a lawyer immediately. I am incredulous that anyone would risk a house and land over a $100 consultation.

Time may be critical, as there are time frames for adverse possession, and since they already have counsel. No later than Monday, retain a lawyer. I repeat, you may have a legal emergency. Retain a lawyer now.
