Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

I sent this a minute ago and got a response that implied that I wasn't being honest. I wanted to add something. My friend had my keys because he was at my house when he left to come pick me up. ( I have no reason to lie in asking for online advise)

In June, my license was suspended for no insurance. I was my 2nd offense in 5 years. My suspension time is over, but i can't afford the $700-800 to get it reinstated yet. I have not driven since then, even though I live alone and have 2 children. I lost my job b/c I couldn't get there (I was not given a work permit) That is the background info. My question is this: My friend was at my house and came to pick me up, driving my van. He didn't know that it didn't have insurance and a suspended tag (b/c of no insurance), he only knew I was unable to drive. We got pulled over b/c the cop ran my tag. I have read online that I will have a mandatory 5 years of my license being revoked. I want to know if there is anything I can do to fight this. Also, would getting an attorney help. I only have unemployment and 2 children, so i don't have money. However I can not afford to lose my license. I was not driving and did not know he was going to drive my car to come pick me up. Please advise.Thanks.

That doesn't change anything. There is still an issue of why anyone had access to your keys and car when it had no insurance. It doesn't matter where they are coming from or where they are going. More importantly, it does not matter on a message board. Either get a lawyer and start following the law, or plan on years of this. If you want to bring up your children, be prepared to explain how you made the decisions to get yourself into this situation when you should have considered them before you decided to violate the law.
