Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

First Time Speeding Ticket

I was caught going at 62 mph in a 45 zone, this is my first traffic violation. Should I go to court & contest it or should I pay the fine & forget about it. Also what exactly is a nolo & how can I use it.

Re: First Time Speeding Ticket

Whether or not you should go to court depends on your specific concerns. Because the amount over the speed limit is more than 14 mph, a conviction will be reported to your insurance company and your premium will in all probability increase. If you go to court and ask that it be reduced to 59 in a 45, than the ticket will not go on your insurance. Nolo contendere is a plea where you accept punishment even though you are not pleading guilty.
