You need to speak to a Texas probate law attorney as that is where your father resided. Each state has different laws and since your parents were not married, I don't know if paternity was acnkowledged or proved prior to death or not.

You also may have grounds for challenging his will. If you succeed in getting it knocked out, then you and his wife may split the assets. Whether it will be worth it will depend on what your father owned, how the assets were titled and if there are any claims against the estate.

There may be time limits for asserting claims and you do not indicate when your father passed away, I would not delay but seek out a probate attorney in the county where your father resided immediately.
