If the father's death was a result of his employment, payment of death benefits are due 21 days after the employer has knowledge of the death. Thereafter, death benefits are to be paid weekly. If the employer denies that the father's death was related to his employment, benefits will likely not be paid until the claim is brought to a hearing and a judge orders the employer to pay benefits.
