Legal Question in Family Law in Guam

Which jurisdiction holds precedence

I was stationed on Guam in 1990 when I filed for divorce, and was granted an interlocutory decree. The ex and I got back together for a time, then split agin for good in 1997. She moved to California and filed for legal separation. Is the divorce paperwork from Guam still valid and does it hold precedence over paperwork filed in Califronia?

Re: Which jurisdiction holds precedence

The Guam divorce should take priority. I suggest you contact an attorney on Guam and have him/her obtain a final judgment of divorce. You can then file that in the CA case.

Guam should have priority. Contact atty in Guam to look at it and to get to California for filing in other matter.
