Legal Question in Family Law in Guyana

Good evening,

I'm a united states citizen that was born in Guyana, I married my husband who was a Guyanese citizen and lived in @ the time. But has been in the United States since nov 2011, I purchased property in Guyana before our marraige and while we lived apart we agreed to build a house on the property which I paid for the entire marraige and have proof of the money I sent him, I travled to guyana in augst 2011 to answer his immigration appt so he could obtain his residency for the United states. While in guyana of augst 2011 I discovered that the house was only in his name and the account he set up to pay for the house was only in his name also.

Before returning to the United States it was agreed that he would add my name to the house and the account, I was very upset by this and felt betrayed but still decided to give him a chance after he apologized and fed me a bunch of promises. I told him if he didin t change things by the time he arrived in the united states I would file for divorce, which I did a month after he arrived with no changes to the papers for the house or bank account. I explained all this to ask how do I move forward with getting my money back for the house although its in his name and the land being in mine?

In response to the above, you will need to contact an Attorney at Law in Guyana who does civil/property matters and provide more information and supporting documentation and then the lawyer will be in a better position to advice you how to proceed.
