Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Hawaii

Withholdings

The company withheld taxes from our checks from Jan-March, then changed our status to contracted workers. We were told we were to get a refund for the withholdings collected. It's been over a month since I got laid off, and all attempts to contact them have failed. Is there any legal thing I can do.

Re: Withholdings

Sounds like a wage-hour problem, which would get them into much greater trouble with the federal government than with employees.

If there are more than a few employees affected, I would go see a plaintiff's employment lawyer and explore a federal claim. That should get you paid pretty quick.
