Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Hawaii

Can I be sent to collections if I never received a bill?

While in Hawaii this summer our rental car was damaged by a falling tree limb. The damaged did not exceed my auto insurance deductible. I never received a bill for the repairs from the rental company, but have now been sent to collections. Is this legal for the rental company to do?

Well, technically they do have to make a demand before they can claim you have not paid. On the other hand, you can take this to be a demand and pay or settle with them.
