Legal Question in Personal Injury in Hawaii

hawaii jurisidction

I struck a pedestrian with my rental while vacationing in Hawaii. I had no insurance and told alamo, but they gave me the rental anyway. the man lived but police on sight even said he was at fault (no cones, reflectors, coworkers, lights, nothing) apparantly he was ''going 4 it''to pick up highway debris. I declared bankcruptcy because alamo tried to sue me. Now I got served summons/complaint but I live in Chicago! do I get legal aid in chi. or hawaii? aren't i eligible for hawaii jurisdiction dismissal? why aren't there any legal orgs. that deal with these torts? I searched all week and there are none. Can I countersue if in my opinion it was his fault! I have no money for ANY legal fees, no property, nothing! what do they think they can get from me? Even the police determined I was within speeding limit and with seatbelt.

If you filed for bankruptcy protection, then the case against you should be stayed. You should contact your bankruptcy counsel to immediately send a notice of your filing to Alamo and any other party that may sue you. Much will depend upon the type of bankruptcy case you filed.
