Legal Question in Traffic Law in Hawaii

Inattentive To Driving Ticket

I was issued an inattentive to driving ticket (On the island of Oahu), and originally i pled not guilty. My situation has changed now (I live on the Big Island), and i cannot afford to fly back to Oahu once more to go to court. It is already costing me $200. to fly back for my court appearence. On Aug. 13, I'm required to appear before a judge, and I would like to change my plea. Is that possible? Will a judgement be issued that same day? Or will have I have to appear again? Will I have to pay a fine or go to jail? I tried contacting the Public Defenders Office, but they said they were booked for over three weeks, and I would have to come in to the office in person. I cannot afford the traveling. I am unemployed and I have a 5 month old baby. I dont know what to do. Please help me.

Re: Inattentive To Driving Ticket

Yes, you can plead guilty without an attorney, but the conviction may give rise to you having to obtain a sr-22 insurance policy to keep you drivers license.
