shopplifting

I was detained at a supermarket for suspected shoplifting, the police were called and after they discovered I was the wrong person my wife and I were released,what comphensation are we entilted to for our embarassement?

It depends on numerous factors: 1. Were there people in the store that knew you; 2. Were you known by the store personnel and what was their opinion of your patronage after the incident, i.e. did it damage your ability to go to the same store. 3. was the incident reported in the newspaper or on tv or other media. 4. Did the incident harm your business or in your business if you work for another. 5. How was the incident handled, e.g. was it handled in front of other patrons or was it handled, as is the usual case, up in the office of the store away from usual customers. Depending upon the answers to these and maybe other questions, the answer will vary. My guess os that without additional facts upon which to consider, the case could maybe be worth anywhere from $5000 to maybe $15,000 or $20,000.
