Legal Question in DUI Law in Idaho

reckless driving

My seventeen year old son was recently cited with reckless driving. He contends that it was more a case of inattentive driving, as he looked away momentarily, and then had to swerve around traffic to avoid an accident. Should he plead not guilty and tell his side to a judge, or is it basically a waste of time. A citizen reported his car, not his license, and an undercover cop stopped him. A cop did not see the incident.

Re: reckless driving

Your son should consider fighting this. It may be possible to plead to a lesser charge. Reckless driving will adversely affect your or his insurance rates considerably. A lawyer who handles these cases on a regular basis can give you proper advice about how to best handle this. A local attorney will have knowledge of the the judge's policies and will know the prosecutors and be able to assist you. It will be money well spent. Get the lawyer. Good Luck.
