Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Registered Agent

I was the registered agent for the company I previously worked for. I have not been employed by them since 12/01/07. I asked many times in the past 2 years to remove me as their agent. I sent my own check and required paperwork in to the state of Illinois & it was returned saying the company had to file their annual report & fees before I could be removed. They had filed bankruptcy & I believe have closed but property in the county of Kankakee is being foreclosed upon. I keep getting the summons since I am still the agent. What is my responsibilty with regards to the paperwork, do I have to file a court appearance & how do I get my name removed as their registered agent?

Re: Registered Agent

You should be able to resign unilaterally, even if the corporation is delinquent in its filings. But it is tricky to resign. Call me tomorrow and I can find to form for you to resign.
