Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Religious Discrimination

I am a resident of Illinois. My townhome Association

scheduled a meeting on a Jewish holiday while I was

in Seattle. I returned home on a Friday afternoon

and received notice of the meeting for Monday evening.

I notified the Association of the conflict and requested they reschedule the meeting.

The response by the Association secretary was that since I was "seen at home" I was obligated to attend

and I was subsequently fined.

Did their action constitute a violation of my right

to observe my religious holiday?
