Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Illinois

Contempt of court

I was served with a paper to appear in court for disclosure of assets for a 1700.00 bill of some kind, not sure what it was, dated 10 years ago. I did not go and received a letter saying a warrant was issued and i must appear in court, will i be arrested upon appearing and do i need a lawyer with me?

Re: Contempt of court

You may appear in court to answer the bench warrant without being arrested, but you will probably have to pay a fine for failing to honor the original summons or subpoena you received. Having a lawyer is always the way to ensure your full rights are protected and that you receive the system benefits you are entitled to.
