Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Illinois

Freedom of information

I recently submitted a freedom of info packet to a city.I asked for information on suspensions,and/or firings of police officers for a certain time period.I was told that this info is exempt and I can not obtain it.Is this correct? I thought I had a right to see this information, through the freedom of information act.Thank you

Re: Freedom of information

Certain municipalities, including the City of Chicago, have taken the position that this information is not required to be disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act. In order to challenge the decision, you would have to file suit in court alleging that the city violated the Act in refusing to provide to you the requested information.
