living in illinois but not changing address from michigan

i have a friend who has asked a girl to move in with him.she has lived in michigan her license says michigan her car is registered in michigan but she lives here in illinois now. i am worried about her taking advantage of my friend. she should have her license changed to illinois and her car registered here if she resides here right? what can be done about this? if anything? i know there is a common law marriage law in michigan after 7 years you are conidered married.she is only out for his money.what can be done? thank you

Have you considered minding your own business?

Whether the woman you describe has or hasn't met Illinois' legal requirements is her concern and not yours. If having her in his home makes both your friend and the woman happy, then let them be happy. She may not really be out for his money, and even if she is your friend may not care.

Finally, if you really consider this man a friend and feel he is at risk you should tell him about your concerns and let him make his own decisions -- even if you disagree strongly. Trying to cause legal problems for his girlfriend is the act of a meddler, not a friend.
