Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois

6/20/10

I'm asking this legal question on behalf of my mother who doesn't understand much English. She has her house torn down for a new construction, after it's done. Does the construction Co. have to give her any type of documents to show their completion, or if she has to sign any documentation to take ownership. Please give me the answers or any advice that my mother need to do. Thanks.

If she owns the land and hires a demolition contractor to take down the existing structure(s) and clear the land for a new building, there should be a contract with the demo contractor and at the end of the job a lien waiver.

If she owns the land and is hiring a contractor to demolish an existing structure AND build her a new one, same thing, and no further proof of ownership of the new structure is necessary (as long as the lien waivers are not fraudulent).

If you mean something else, please clarify the question and re-post it.
