Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

Screwed Over By Auto Delarship, Who refuse to repair my car.

A dealership sold me a 1997 Grand Prix. We had them do a fine tooth comb inspection on the and the car was said to be in great condition with some minor problems that they fixed. As soon as I drove off the lot. The radio l.e.d.s went off. The only way to get it back on was to hit the screen to get it to light up again. I also was cold, so I tried to turn the heat on. The air/heat only worked when the knob was on 5. Anything below it would not work. After 9 days of having the car, the engine seized. After a mechanic looked at it, there were problems found. There were leaks in the power steering, and the head gasket blown, oil leaked everywhere. We found out that they have over filled the oil by 4-5 quarts. Causing pressure which caused the engine to go. The car now needs a new engine. After talking to the dealership, they are refusing to give me my money back, and are also saying that they never checked the car, other than test it to see if it started. They also told me they didn't have to tell me about the problems with heat or radio. They told me to go to hell. Do I have a case in court. They over filled the oil which caused the head gasket to blow, and seize the engine?

Yes, it sounds like you have a case, assuming that they represented that the car did not have any major problem, and they did not sell it to you without any guarantee (i.e. we know there are problems with this, it may work or it may not, buy it as-is). You will also need to consider what is the value of the car and the cost of litigation. You will also need to account for youruse of the car after it left the lot, as they may claim that you somehow damaged the car during that time.
