Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

someone owes me money and has failed to pay me. This person had numerous times to pay me.

I always get put off. And now this person does not answer my calls. I have tried to let this person know id like to get paid the person has contact me back asking me to meet so i can get paid but the does not call or show. I guess there playing games saying will pay and then does not. i was supposed to get paid around christmas time and since then i have not seen this person or got paid. What should i do?

It would appear that your only choice is to sue him. Is the a written agreement? Does it include a provision that he pay attorneys fees? You can represent yourself, remembering that Abe Lincoln once said the person who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer.

Sometimes a letter from an attorney will get folks to open their wallet, but probably less than half the time. Your only other option is to file a lawsuit. The burden will be on you to prove that this person owes you money. There are also statutes of limitations that limit how long you have to sue someone.
