Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Payment history for vehicle

Recently, my friend's truck was repossessed. There is a dispute about how much he owed since he payed them a settlement amount in November and they say he owes them more money. He wants to obtain a record of his car payment history from the creditor, but they are resisting giving it. Does he have a legal right to obtain a record of our payment history from them and if so, how do we get it? Thanks!

Re: Payment history for vehicle

Perhaps not since they have already commenced legal action. In theory, he would have the right to receive that information through the discovery process.
