Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I am 21 years old and I was recently charged with providing alcohol to a minor. What happened is that I had just driven to the airport pick up a friend who had gotten back from a deployment overseas and on the way home we stopped and had gotten beer for his welcome home party. We where then pulled over for speeding and the case of beer was in the back seat. I was charged because there were three persons also in the car that were underage. who had all had one beer apiece. I understand I have to pay the fine but when i asked the officer what the fine was he said it was up to the judge. After some research on my part I found that i could face $2,500 in fines and up to one year in prison. I have an absolutely perfect record other than one speeding ticket and i was curious as to what i face for this.

I would strongly advise you to hire an attorney to represent you on this charge. The attorney may be able to negotiate a much better disposition than you taking a conviction and paying a large fine.
