Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I am in Illinois and picked for a criminal jury this past Friday. I am unemployed, out of unemployment insurance and desperate to find a job. I found on Friday I could not focus, can't sleep, have been sick all weekend, now on anti-anxiety meds prescribed by my doctor and the stress having to back tomorrow is unreal. I know I can be forced to be on the jury but what will I do when I cannot focus as I am so worried about getting evicted from my apartment next month. I was bringing in some extra money walking friends dogs during the day to pay groceries and my gas and electric but now that only source of income is taken away from me. Is there anything I can do? I had asked for a hardship reason to not serve and it was ignored.

Well, as part of being a member of our society, we all owe a duty to serve on a jury when called. Whether you are called or not, you will receive a small stipend for your time.
