Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Police Questioning, is this normal?

My father passed away last Tuesday.

He was 53 and died in his sleep. On

Sunday he fell down 6 steps and

broke his rib. He went to the hospital

was treated and released. After he

was found dead, the police took

statements from my mother and I at

the house. Then they returned the

next day and had me come to station

for another round of questions. Now

they returned a week later and want

my mother to come in to the station

for questions. Is this normal or

should my family retain counsel?

Retain counsel. Don't talk to the police! Whatever you say WILL be used against you. Play it safe: let your attorney do your talking for you. Let your attorney look into what is going on.
