Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I was pulled over for a traffic stop and was given a ticket for possesion of cannibus. I was not arrested but I have a court date. I was wondering what the penalty will be? Do I need a lawyer?

Hello. You should definitely have representation when you go to court. I certainly do not suggests that you attempt to represent yourself. I am reluctant to say what the penalty could be, without more information. There are preliminary motions that should be filed in your defense.

If I were you I would hire an attorney. Your future is too important to risk taking a conviction on your record, and an attorney should be able to help you avoid doing just that.
