Power of Attorney for Elderly Parent
My mother suffers from bi-polar depression. When my father was alive it was not a major problem. He passed away in Feb. and her condition has gotten out of control. When she is up she goes on huge spending sprees. She is now in her down period and has not left the house for months. My brother and I have power of attorney which goes into effect ''when her doctor determines she can no longer make decisions for herself''. How do we get the power of attorney to go into effect if we cannot get her to go to the doctor to be checked out? She needs help immediately. She has lot about 50 pounds in the last 4 months. We need to get control over her health and finances ASAP. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
