Child custody

my x-girlfriend is pregnant and regretfully, no longer apart of my life; the babys' due at the end of nov., and i would like to raise the child as a single father. how should i proceed?

Hello -

You should file a parentage

complaint once your child

is born. We now call this

a parentage action, rather

than a paternity action

because, under the law in

Illinois, either the father

or mother can file an action

to get the father named.

Once you file this, the court

can then consider the issue

of custody, once it legally

declares you the biological

father of your child. You

should have representation
