Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Say a couple has been separated for two years, never married and they had a child together. The father of the child was 17 when the woman had gotten pregnant and lived in another state. Now the women is looking for child support and all that, what rights does the father have? Can he possibly still get sole custody? And does he have to pay back for all the years he wasn't paying custody even though it still has never been set up, nor was he employed?

If Dad was never here, IL courts have no poower to order anything, unless the child was conceived here. If an IL court has jurisdiction, then it can order retroactive support. It will order support back to date of service of suymnmons and may order support back to date of birth. Dad can show mhis employment status, but some support will be ordered. He had a duty to support the child.
