divorce and power of attorney

If I would like to file for simple dissolution and my husband is serving in Iraq, but I am his power of attorney does he have to be present or can I sign papers and divorce him while he is still deployed?

No, you cannot do that. There are laws protecting military personnel from legal actions commenced while they are overseas. Since you have asked about IL law, you should consult with a divorce attorney in Illinois. Good luck!
