Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I was kind of forced to leave my house months ago, because my wife had called the police on me, & made false allegations. A police report was never made, but the cops told me since this was the 2nd time she has done this to go find another place to live. They told me to come back with a police escort to retrieve some of my things. I received mostof my things back from my wife (non marital). There is also a lot of things in our house still that we bought together, & I would like to split up with her (marital property). My lawyer told me to write up a list of the things I want from the house, in which I did. How does this get settled in court of whose getting what? I am not talking with wife right now.

Unless you and your wife settle it between yourselves, it has to go to trial before a judge. Or you and she could agree to binding arbitration (which is rare). A trial is what must happen.
