Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Lawsuit against mistress

I am currently going through a divorce, and as I had suspected - it has come out that my soon to be Ex has been having an affair with another (married) women. I have heard that in Illinois there is some type of suit (civil maybe) that I can file against her because she knew he was married and had kids when the affair began. Is there such a law?

Yes it's called an alienation of affections lawsuit. However, let me suggest to you that it's very infrequently used and rarely successful. It's one of those laws that is still on the books but I think the judicial mindset is opposed to this cause of action. Every few years I see a case where someone's successful in this sort of case so it's not totally dead but you should know the risks of trying it.
