Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

le

My husbands 14 yr. old son wants to come live with us & the mother is refusing to let him. My husband filed a petition for full custody, & we go to court in a week. My question is should he get an attorney or are things pretty cut & dry? We heard that it will weigh a lot with the judge on what his son wants. Is this true? What kind of advice would you give us as far as what kind of things to prove against her to help our case?

Your son's wishes are important but not the end of the story. The standard for change of custody is what is in the best interests of the child. If this matter is contested the court will appoint a lawyer for the child to determine what is in the best interests of the boy. It can be a long and drawn out process. I can help you in this case. I charge $250 per hour and would need a $1500 retainer to begin my work. Please call me for a free consult.
