Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Legal Seperation

I have been married for a yr and a half. My husband now thinks he wants a divorce. Does IL require you to be legal seperated first? Also if you are legally seperated are you able to ''legally'' date other people. Im just wondering what you can do when your ''legally seperated'' and what it means.

Re: Legal Seperation

Hello. In Illinois a person can file for divorce

on the grounds of "mental cruelty", without being

separated from their spouse. Now your next question, in my opinion, is not a legal matter,

but instead is a personal decision that you are

entitled to make.
