Depends upon how the guardianship was done. If it was a voluntary guardianship, you can go back to the original court and rescind the guardianship. Although you will likely want an attorney to do this, having an attorney represent you in the matter should not be terribly expensive. If, however, the guardianship was involuntary (e.g., you did not volunteer to make your parents guardians) and was ordered by the court as a result, perhaps, of a DCFS intervention, then you'll definitely require the assistance of an attorney to assist you in convincing the court that it is now in the best interest of the child (your son) to be returned to your custody full time. In either scenario, you should retain the services of an experienced attorney (unfortunately, my office is too far from you for it to be practical to retain my services). Good luck.
