Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My son who is two years old now, has not seen his father in 18 months. The father moved out of state a few months ago, he is currently working and I am receiving child support, that the State of Illinois is automatically taking out. My question is, how do I go about getting my sons father to relinquish all paternity rights? I want to change my sons last name, and make sure that his father has no legal rights to him ever. My boyfriend is willing to legally adopt my son when we get married.

It is unlikely you can have the father relinquish his rights unless he agrees to do so.
