Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Subpoena to appear

My wife is being asked by her brother-in-law to testify aainst her sister in a very ugly divorce/custody case. The trial is in Illinois and we live in Tennessee. My wife does not wish to testify against her family. Does she have to appear in court and testify?

Re: Subpoena to appear

Your wife could be subpoenaed and forced to appear before the Court however, if IL is like TN, subpoena powers are only state wide and so even if she was served with a subpoena from IL, I don't think it would be enforceable against your wife because she's in TN.
