Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My ex wife has semi-threatened me with a letter from her attorney about the fact that our children sleep in the basement in our home. I am currently having an egress window installed in the main area of the basement. There are 3 smoke alarms in the basemtn above each room and at the staircase and also a carbon monoxide detector. The children sleep on a second story at her home with no safety ladders that I know of. I Also recently found out she has 3 of her boyfriends children sleeping in one bedroom in her basement and this involves a 5 year old boy and two older girls. How can she threaten me when her situation seems even worse? Does she have a case against me? Our children are 7 and 5, both in their own bedrooms. She only brought this up 1 month before my wife and I had our baby. I found it to be jealousy/anger but I still worry that she may take me to court.

If the basement living space complies with your local building codes she may have no argument but an attorney should review the divorce decree to see if there are any other particulars that may be involved.
